And now a
message from the President:
Hello All!
We had a beautiful day for the picnic, although we weren't sure about
that at first. Great food! Great fun! The deck seemed to be the place
to congregate... anyone with pictures... we would appreciate you sharing
them on the website. We even had a call from our wayward truck driver,
Dennis Baylor, who wanted to say "hello" to all. He said he was in
Dallas and we thought maybe he was picnicking with our other wayward
Texans - the Easterwoods!
As you may have noticed, either in our newsletter or on our website or
personal e-mail (if you can call those things personal), - WE NEED
DIRECTORS! Many of us are poised to become directors but are not
completely qualified. I have many people who have volunteered to be
assistant directors, so you would have many enthusiastic people to help
you. Please consider it. We need to know something by Sept. 1, 2007 as
auditions for "Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grill" should
take place somewhere in the second week of September. I have scripts
for both "Rainbow" and "A Piece of My Heart" available if you would like
to peruse them. You will have to let me know before Aug. 31st though as
I will be heading out of town to attend the State OCTAfest.
Also, I need your help! We need more people to advertise in our
program. We have lost a couple over the years and gained a couple;
however, we could still use more. As this is our 80th season, we would
like to add a little color to our program (just the outside) but need
more advertisers in order to offset this cost. I have plenty of
advertising flyers and can assist anyone with any info about graphics,
costs, etc. but I'm not any good at selling. If everyone could find
just one advertiser we'd be in good shape! All you have to do is get me
the advertiser and I can take it from there. See me to get a flyer or
more information! Deadline for this is October 5th.
See you all at the general meeting on Wed. Sept. 12th at 8:00 p.m.!

"This year's 4th of July booth was a big success. Thanks to all of the
members who volunteered their time plus those members who just showed up
anyway. We never had less than 4 members at the booth at any one time.
(sometimes 6+) It made the day fly by and everyone had fun. The
plastic bags we had printed out with Harlequins info. on the front (and
filled with flyers) went over very well. I estimate that we gave out
over 60 bags during the course of the day. Hopefully this will reap
substantial benefits over the coming year. A great big thanks to all
involved!”

We Want You...To Direct a Play This Season!
We have wonderful plays we have chosen, now we are looking for wonderful
directors! If you would be interested in directing any of this season's
plays, please contact Lori or some other board member. In case you
haven't heard they are: Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and
Grill, A Piece of My Heart and All
I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.
For Your
Information...
Capital Improvement Meeting:
We met with Bart and Bob last week (8-13-07) with no others showing up.
Talked about other things that were needed on the tuck point contract
and that funding would have to be arranged. We will try to get another
quote or two as well. The back floor to be raised has come up again and
Bob and I met with Scheid concrete. They will provide a quote. Not much
else was discussed. There is no chair at this time and nobody took
minutes.
-Nate
Also, if you would like to be a part of the Capital Improvements
committee I hear they are looking for a few good people to join them!
And while
we are on the subject of committees, Jennifer could use a couple of
people on the House committee to help her out.
