Stenzel Board of Directors: Nate Fuller Bart Zimmerman George Muehlhauser Donna Jean Evans Jim Ohlemacher President’s Message. Hope your spring is going well. Can't believe it's May already and I'm still freezing.
Check out the dates to remember. Even though we're on our closing week for "Kindergarten" - I don't know about you, but I still have a ton of stuff going on. We'll be having Kid Kompany auditions the very next day on Mon. May 5th. We hope we'll be doing "Charlotte's Web". Also, "A Piece of My Heart" is going to begin rehearsals soon. They are the only show that expressed an interest in going to OCTA, so "off they go into the wild blue yonder..." Don't forget the general meeting coming up is May 14th and it's election time! If you want to throw your hat into the ring, pay your dues and tell Deb, Bart or George! See you then.
Lori Things up and coming… Things to look forward to in May: Kid Kompany auditions (we hope), general meeting when we hold elections and you can finally get rid of your president, double board meeting to choose next season's plays. As always most information is pretty well updated and always available on our website at www.harlequinstheatre.com Kid Kompany Kid Kompany try-outs are this Monday - May 5 at 6:00 pm. Ages 9 - 16. We plan to do Charlotte's Web - if we can get the rights. (There may be some restrictions.) If not - we will do something else! I would like to encourage all Harlequins to give us a few hours of your time to help out. We don't need a long-term committment, just a day or so. I will be putting together a schedule of sorts once we get going, so let me know if you can help. The show will go on the boards the last weekend in June. I'm co-ordinating, Charlene Edgar (Marlilyn Forster's sister)has volunteered to direct. We have a host of wonderful adults taking care of other tasks, but can always use more. And not to mention - it's a lot of fun! If you would like a clarification or more info on something, just let me know.
I’ve Got Dates to remember…May 5 - 6:00 p.m. Kid Kompany auditions at the theatre. Please bring a picture to attach to your audition sheet. Contact Donna Evans if you would like to help out. May 11 - 8:00 p.m. "A Piece of My Heart" OCTA rehearsal at the theatre May 14 - 6:45 p.m. - special Board meeting - OCTA application, etc. May 14 - 7:30 p.m. - general meeting - ELECTIONS! As far as I know we still need someone to provide the refreshments for this night. It's sometimes a long night - we need sustenance! Please call Jennifer if you'd like to volunteer. May 29 - 7:00 p.m. - because of your current president's crazy schedule - the double board meeting (with the old and new board) where the season is chosen will be on this date - a THURSDAY. Thank you. June - June dinner coming up. I've only heard rumors on possible dates but nothing definite yet. June 13-14 - OCTA in Lima, Ohio... more on that later... You can ring our bellIf anyone would like any information put on the website, please send it to Jim Ohlemacher at JCOhle@landolls.com he will then send it off to Marc, our webmaster We are trying to cut postage costs for the newsletter and would like to know if anyone receiving the newsletter would prefer to get it by e-mail instead of snail mail. If so, please let Ellie know. Her email address is: estuck@monroeville.k12.oh.us if that's not your thing, we still don't mind sending it by regular mail since we do want everyone to receive it and know what's going on. Also, if there’s anything you want in the newsletter, please let Ellie know. Just try and have it to her by the last week of the month preceeding the month’s newsletter in which you’d like it to appear. Congratulations go out to Harlequin's member, Tami Crane, who received the "The President's Volunteer Award" from the Maritime Museum of Sandusky, Ohio. She was honored with this award based on the many hours of volunteer work she has performed. The award was presented Wednesday morning, April 23rd, by Neil Allen, director of the museum.
That’s web hot! Website News: Up to this point, our website's "forum" had been open to anyone who wanted to go on and make a post. However, due to the ever-increasing amount of un-wanted Spam making it's way onto the forum, we've had to make some changes. The forum is still open to anyone who wants to go in and read any of the topic's posts. However, if they want to participate and make posts, they must be a registered user and log-in. This is just a minor inconvenience and will hopefully put an end to the junk being posted on our forum. Also, please note that we finally have been able to get the form on the inquiries page to work. So please pass along to anyone you know that's interested in Harlequins to go on line and fill this form out. ~Jim Slate of Officers The Nominating Committee (Bart, Deb and George) respectfully submit the following slate of officers: For President: George Muehlhauser Vice President; Bart Zimmerman Secretary: Jennifer Wertz Treasurer: Kathlyn Stenzel 2 Open seats: Tami Crane Lisa Wiley Nate Fuller Lori will continue on as Past President
Getting to know youHi, my name is Jim, but people call me…….....Jim. Even though I appear to be just a mild mannered thespian, I currently serve on the board, over-see our website and am the Statutory Agent for Harlequins, Inc., which gives me ”unlimited powers”. On top of that, I serve on and chair some of our committees. I started with Harlequins, (my acting debut), in 1997 during “My Fair Lady”. My son Chris, a Kid Kompany alumnus, was in the cast of that musical and came home one night saying that they needed more chorus people. My wife, Carolyn, jumped at the chance and “dragged” me with her down to the theater for a meeting with Kathy Beatty who was the music director for the play. We both ended up in the chorus…. and that, as they say, is how it all got started. I’ve since been in over 21 plays. This is on top of at least 32 past choral performances with The Bayside Singers, The Firelands Symphony Orchestra and shows at Huron’s Boat Basin Amphitheater before 1997. A few tidbits about me: I’m a business major from BGSU, where I met my wife Carolyn; I love computers; I started out as an art major in college; art, especially drawing, is something I want to get back into; painting is something I want to teach myself (when I find time); unlike Ellie, I REALLY am a shy person (a real wallflower in my younger years); my whole family (Carolyn, Jamie, Chris, Jenn and Susan) have been on harlequin’s stage more than once; I could probably exist just on coffee and bagels; I love a good road trip; organization is my mantra, except for my desk at home, and my garage, and my basement, and…….; singing is something I really enjoy; I was a Statistical Process Control Data Specialist for Ford Motor Co.; retirement is something I’m starting to really enjoy now, too. Now let’s see, I get to pick the next recipient of this honor(?). I choose that coffee guzzling, sucker eating, guitar playing virtuoso… your friend and mine, Ms. Lisa (Bo-Jo-Lay) Wiley.
